Each Y shaped SMB TCu 380Ag Silver Iud frame is made from compound of Low Density Polyethylene and Barium Sulphate (15% - 24%) wound with 0.40mm diameter copper wire with silver core of 0.1mm providing a surface area of 380mm² ± 23mm²
The Y frame is equipped with Polyamide Monofilament thread (suture) for easy removal. It is packed together with an Insertion Tube and Rod in a Mylar- Mylar film pouch.
The Insertion Tube is equipped with a movable flange to aid in gauging the depth to which the Insertion Tube should be inserted through the cervical canal and into the uterine cavity. Centimeter Scale printed in blue is provided on the Insertion Tube for exact positioning of the flange on the Insertion Tube before Insertion.
SMB TCu 380Ag contains a Silver core in Copper wire making up approximately one third of the total diameter.
It is 99% effective silver Intrauterine Contraceptive Device and does not affect female hormonal system.

This New Silver IUD TCu380Ag has several advantages
The Mini model is a big advantage to Nulliparous women - Pain and Menorrhagia due to lateral arms of IUDs disturbing the endometrium are not seen with the Mini. A large population of nulliparous women today are on oral hormonal contraceptives; this New IUD would be a good cost effective alternative without any side effects seen with hormone based oral contraceptives. The incidence of infection in the New IUD is less because of the presence of Silver and Polyamide Monofilament Tie thread.
